My name is Derick Sovereign and I look forward to meeting you!
I was raised in Gilbert, AZ. After graduating high school I lived in Moscow, Russia and surrounding areas for two years on church service. When I returned, I attended undergraduate school in Utah where I met my wife, Sydney. After graduating, we moved back to Arizona where I attended dental school.
My wife’s family is in the fishing and hospitality industry in Southeast Alaska so she has spent her summers since she was in high school in Alaska. When she introduced me to it, I knew that we’d love living here. We are very excited to call the Mat-Su Valley home for our family!
When I’m not seeing patients, I love to spend time with my wife and 3 kids. We enjoy getting outside as much as possible and are so excited for all that Alaska has to offer. We also love traveling and experiencing new destinations together.
I strive to make patient comfort my number one priority and I look forward to delivering the very best treatment possible for all of my patients.

I’m originally from southern Utah, where family has always been at the center of my life. I come from a big “yours, mine, and ours” family with 12 siblings, which shaped my love for people, connection, and strong relationships. I earned my bachelor’s degree at Utah Valley University before going on to receive my Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Dalhousie University in Nova Scotia, Canada.
I’ve always loved helping people and problem-solving, which is a big part of what drew me to dentistry and continues to motivate me every day.
Now I’m proud to call Alaska home, and I truly love living here and the people who make it so special. My family and I have embraced everything Alaska has to offer, from the outdoors to the welcoming atmosphere. When I’m not in the office, you’ll usually find me spending time with my wife and daughter, fishing, and enjoying the beauty that surrounds us. I feel grateful to live and work in a place that values quality care and genuine relationships.
